Squaw Butte Trail & Project Safety

Rides and project are open to active BCHI members.

Member and stock safety takes priority in everything the chapter does.

First aid kits and emergency contact devices will be carried on all projects & rides.

Carry a personal medical info form in your saddle bags.

Carry any special medications in your saddle bags.

Dogs are welcome in camp, but not on work projects & trail rides.

Stock must be under control at all times.

If you horse or mules kicks, ribbon on their tail.

A pre-event safety meeting will be held.

Members must have Sawyer training to use power saws on chapter projects.

Required safety gear will be worn when running saws.

No alcoholic beverage until after the work is done.

Trail Project  - Saturday/Sunday May 17/18, 2014  Location: BLM-North Fork Owyhee/ Currant Creek area - This is a scouting and trail marking project for a fence wire packing project in June.  It will be a great opportunity to start exploring one of the new Owyhee Wildernesses.

Project starts at 10:30 Location:  Weiser Area - Steck Park and Dunes
This will be mostly picking up trash as we ride along the Snake River.  Pot luck after the project is completed.  There is an excellent place to camp just befor the main campground, up the hill, there is an old corral and water for stock. Pictures from 2013.

Trail Project - Saturday/Sunday June 21/22, 2014  -  Location  BLM North Fork Owyhee/ Currant Creek area  Project: Packing out old fence wire from a downed fence that needs to be removed from this wilderness area.  Another volunteer organization will roll up the wire into bundles for us to pack out.  Distance from camp to fence is around 3.5 miles.  Read May survey for details.
